L3: Chemical Evolution Modeling

To understand the impact on phylogenetic trees regarding the role of the various chemical elements, stand-alone analytical models of chemical evolution are also analyzed. These models include FlexCE, which assumes a predefined star-formation history for an isolated galaxy and tracks the enrichment of the gas and stars as the system evolves. Such models are complementary to galaxy evolution simulations, as they require much less computational power thus allowing us to test a larger variety of input data regarding the chemical abundances and star formation histories which help to characterize tree topologies.
